"Reverse direct marketing" still makes sense to me. Search marketing allows you to place your brand in front of the consumers while they are actively looking for something.

When the faltering economy made luxury a hard sell, iCrossing developed a "Page One or Bust" search engine optimization campaign focused on page optimization and off-page link building to create awareness and drive consumers to Fairmont's website.

A brand's position on search engine result pages (SERPs) is critical to driving site traffic. iCrossing analyzed natural search results for non-branded keywords for 10 clients and found that more than 95 percent of all site traffic from search engines comes from page-one result.
